The 2019 FARB Regulatory Law Seminar (RLS) will bring together leading experts and attorneys from across the country to discuss the latest trends in the licensing of professionals. This first-class educational program delivers the tools and information needed to ensure the efficient and effective operation of state regulatory boards. Designed for assistant attorneys general and board attorneys, the RLS will cover topics related to administrative law and representing regulatory boards. The RLS will kick-off with the popular two-hour optional Thursday evening Professional Responsibility (Ethics) Training course. The RLS is always interactive and will provide an unparalleled opportunity to network with members of the regulatory community across jurisdictions and professions. The conference curriculum presents current Regulatory News, relevant Top Cases, and blends various videos and media into an engaging interactive learning experience.


The 2019 FARB Regulatory Law Seminar will span a full-day Friday, with two half-days on Saturday and Sunday. The optional two-hour Professional Responsibility (Ethics) course will kick-off the seminar on Thursday.

2019 FARB RLS Agenda & Topics

The FARB RLS 2019 will include relevant, interactive programming and a breadth of current topics of interest to Assistant Attorneys General, regulatory attorneys, and board members and staff of regulatory boards. With a mixture of lecture, panel, and interactive educational methods, content is delivered live by presenters with the goals for the participants to expand knowledge, developed skills, and applications to incorporate into current practice. Participants will engage in tabletop problem solving exercises and discussions surrounding current legal issues confronting regulatory boards to allow for more intimate engagement with content. In addition, Top Regulatory Cases and New Legislation will be presented and draw from the content areas in preparation for the RLS 2019.

FARB Speakers

FARB draws from a rich collection of experts in the legal field to cover the topical content. Generally, speakers range from Attorney Generals, Assistant Attorneys General, attorneys in practice, as well as experienced professionals within the world of regulation familiar with regulatory law and administrative law matters. Content experts are sought for specific areas to broaden knowledge, develop skills and encourage the application of knowledge to the practice setting.

Ethics Training

This interactive session titled “Ethics in an Administrative Law Setting” is designed as a refresher on legal ethics for regulatory attorneys and approval is being sought for Professional Responsibility (Ethics) CLE credits. This course includes an analysis of the Rules of Professional Conduct as they relate to the government attorney or the attorney who represents a government agency.  The content  also focuses on court cases involving the Rules of Professional Conduct as they relate to the duties of attorneys to the judicial system, the public, clients and other attorneys.

CONTINUING EDUCATION: FARB will seek approved for credits through the Illinois Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) for the courses.  We anticipate attendees will earn 12 CLE credit hours at the RLS.  Attendees can anticipate an additional 2 hours of Professional Responsibility (Ethics) CLE credit if attending the optional Thursday evening Ethics course. Other professions may be able to use FARB courses as continuing education.  Attendees must submit required MCLE reporting information, including attendance tracking and evaluations, and request CLE certificates in a timely manner. Attendees must submit required information to their appropriate jurisdictions as necessary.

Meeting Materials

Prior to the conference, all attendees will receive an email with instructions on how to access the meeting materials online. The meeting website with the materials will be accessible during the conference via Wi-Fi.

Registration fee for the Thursday Professional Responsibility (Ethics) session is $250.00 and includes beverages and light snacks.  Registration fee for the RLS is $825.00 for members and $925.00 for non-members and includes breakfast, lunch and reception Friday, and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.

Please forward the registration fee to FARB as soon as possible. Payment can be made over the phone or by sending a check in the mail. If the fee is not available at the time of registration, it may be sent later or paid upon arrival at the conference.

Cancellation Policy:
Notification of cancellation MUST be made in writing and sent to FARB via U.S. mail, e-mail (FARB@FARB.org ), or fax.
If a cancellation is received in writing on or before Friday, September 20, 2019, FARB will:

1. Refund the paid registration fee less a $50 processing charge

2. Charge the registrant a $50 processing charge if the registration fee has not been paid

Any registrants cancelling after Friday, September 20, 2019, will be charged the full registration fee but will receive access to all meeting materials.


FARB has reserved a block of rooms at the Ritz-Carlton St. Louis specifically for RLS attendees. Please make your reservations early, as only a limited number of hotel rooms will be available until the cut-off date of Wednesday, September 11, 2019, or until the group block is sold out, whichever comes first. Hotel reservations made after this date are subject to availability and rate increase.
