2020 Forum Agenda Topics
20/20 Vision: A Vision for the Future of Smart Regulation
The 2020 FARB Forum will focus on perspectives from various stakeholders with an eye toward understanding these differing visions. The historical role of government in the regulation of the trades, occupations and professions must be examined as a means of identifying necessary involvement and anticipate political changes. Further, as we look to the future, how might state-based regulatory systems change under increasing technological advancements and the evolution of virtual practice? The Forum will explore these progressive concepts using speakers with differing perspectives. Attendee participation is encouraged.
Topics will include:
The Past: Where Have We Been?
Why Government: Lets Focus on All Perspectives: Consumers, Policy Makers, Regulators, Students, Applicants, Licensees and more!
Audits of Regulatory Boards: Recent Government Generated Reports
The Deregulation Perspective: Where Economics and Public Protection Collide
Immunity: Government Negligence in the Issuance of a License. Is the Bubble Bursting?

Comprehensive Regulatory Training (CRT)
Attendees have the option to attend a four-hour Comprehensive Regulatory Training (CRT) on Thursday evening. This interactive session is designed to provide comprehensive training for board members, staff, investigators, attorneys and other stakeholders in the regulatory community. The CRT course content has been developed to cover all aspects of regulation and board operations, including scope of authority, responsibilities, conflicts of interest, immunity, discipline and outreach. The CRT experience is derived from adult learning principles which actively engage all participants in exchange of information, discussion, and small group activities. Attendees are able to attend the CRT without registering for the entire conference. We encourage boards to send multiple participants to this interactive training experience.

FARB seeks approval for credits through the Illinois Minimum Continuing Legal Education (CLE). We anticipate attendees may earn up to 12 CLE credit hours at the Forum. Attendees may earn up to an additional 4 hours of CLE credit if attending the optional Comprehensive Regulatory Training (CRT) session. Attendees must complete required MCLE reporting information, including attendance tracking and evaluations, and request CLE certificates in a timely manner.
